WINTER PARK, Fla.—Outhitting Rollins College 51 kills to 25, the 25th-ranked Barry University volleyball team picked up a three-set win on the road over the Tars on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Tars (10-5, 3-3) and Bucs (8-2, 5-1) were tied early and often in set one as neither team was able to separate themselves from the other. The teams were tied at 17-17 before a Tar kill and service ace gave Rollins the 19-17 lead. The Tars held the two-point lead through 24-22 before Barry scored the final four points of the match off two kills by Ady Alcantara, an ace by Julia Teixeira and a Rollins' error. The Bucs took set one 26-24.
 
In set two the Bucs quickly took a two point lead off of a kill apiece by Alcantara and Teixeira. Rollins kept it within two until late in the set before Barry scored three straight points to take a 23-18 lead. Rollins would score two more points before an attack error by the Tars gave the Bucs the 25-20 win in set two.
 
Rollins took the first two points in set three before the Bucs quickly tied it at 2-2 off a Teixeira kill and a Tar error. Rollins kept it close and scored three straight points to get within one at 13-14. Yet that was as close as Rollins would get however as Alcantara, Teixeira, Lanie Muys, and Stefanie Svieven combined for eight kills to help close out the match. Milena Bukinac also had an ace in the run to give the Bucs the 25-21 win in set three.
 
For the Buccaneers Teixeira had 16 kills while Alcantara had 14 and Svieven had 11. The Buccaneers combined for 73 digs and Libby Walter chipped in with 40 assists.
 
The Bucs return to action on Tuesday, October 5 at 7:00 pm when they host Nova Southeastern in the Health & Sports Center.
