Women's Soccer Drops 3-2 Shootout To Tars

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers dropped a 3-2 shootout with the sixth-ranked Rollins Tars at Buccaneer Field in Sunshine State Conference women’s soccer action Saturday night.

Melissa Madrid scored twice to the give the Bucs (6-5-1, 2-2-1 SSC) a lead in the first half, but the Tars’ Ali Schrader connected in the 56th minute for the game-winner.

Rollins (8-1-1, 3-0-1 SSC) grabbed an early lead. Leah Hirsh misfired on a penalty kick in the 15th minute, but Brenna McKee came up to knock in the rebound.

Madrid answered in the 19th minute. Emma Karp knocked a shot off the far post and Madrid came in to clean up the rebound. She gave the Bucs a lead in the 29th minute. Silvia Lugo stole a ball at 38 yards out and fed Madrid up the gut of the Tars’ defense and she was able to convert.

The lead was short-lived however. Chelsea Brady pushed the ball up the left wing and hit a centering pass to Charlotte Murrell coming up unmarked about 35-yards out. Murrell’s blast evened the game at 2-2.

Mikeala Barboza had two saves and allowed three goals for the Bucs, while Michelle Dillingham had three saves and allowed two goals for Rollins.

The Bucs host #3 Columbus State on Friday, Oct. 15 at 7:00 pm at Buccaneer Field nest time out.
