MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry men’s soccer team played to a 0-0 2OT draw against the #6 Rollins Tars on Saturday.

The defensive thirds for each team dominated their respective sides of the field. Both teams posted 17 shots each. Barry tallied nine on goal while Rollins totaled five.

Late in the first period the Buccaneers saw a golden opportunity spoiled by the Rollins keeper. After a corner kick, Mark Anderson found the ball at his fee at the top left portion of the box. Anderson blasted a half volley toward the net but Rollins keeper Keneil Baker came up with a great save.

Rollins also missed a nice opportunity at the 49:35 mark in the second half. Stephen Wright pulled the trigger on a shot that connected with the crossbar. The ball bounced around in the box several times before the Bucs were able to clear.

Also in the second period, Rollins’ leading scorer Bradley Welch rifled a shot from just inside the box but came up empty after defender Glen Thomas blocked the ball and earned a team save for the Bucs.

Barry sits just behind Rollins at the top of the conference standings with a 3-1-1 conference mark. Rollins is just a game ahead of Barry at 4-1-1.

The next match for the Buccaneers is Wednesday, Oct. 20 against Palm Beach Atlantic. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the friendly confines of Buccaneer Field.
