DAVIE, Fla.— The Barry University volleyball team dropped the first set but stormed back to take the final three in a four-set win over Nova Southeastern on Tuesday night.
 
In the first set Nova (8-18, 3-12) jumped out to a 10-6 lead and pushed the lead to 18-10. The Bucs (16-5, 11-4) fought back, taking eight of the next ten points to go down 22-20. Yet Nova hung on, and won set one 25-22.
 
The Bucs rebounded in the second set and stormed out to an 8-1 lead with the help of three kills by Ady Alcantara and a number of Shark errors. Barry continued to push and took two of the next three points, capped off by an Alexis Gandon ace.
 
The Bucs continued to roll in set two, going on multiple 2-0 runs on their way to a 22-12 lead. Nova showed life, earning five more points, but a Julia Teixeira kill gave the 25-17 win in set two.
 
In the third set the teams were tied early at 7-7. Barry worked out to a two-point lead off a Teixeira kill and a Shark error. The Bucs held the lead through 17-15 at which point they again took two straight off a Teixeria kill and another Shark error to go up 19-15.
 
After a Nova timeout, the Sharks took four straight to tie it at 19 apiece. Barry bounced back, taking four straight of their own off of two Shark errors, an Alcantara kill and a Libby Walter ace. The Bucs held on and took the final two points to win set three 25-19.
 
The fourth set was all Barry as the Sharks hit a paltry -.091. Tied at nine apiece, the Bucs took eight straight points with the help of kills by Teixeria and Alcantara to go up 17-9.Nova took four more points in the match, but the Bucs were too dominant, taking 17 of the final 21 points to win set four 25-13.
 
For the Buccaneers, Alcantara led the way with 18 kills. Teixeira chipped in with 13, adding 14 digs for the double-double. The Bucs combined for nine aces, four from Alexis Gandon, and one apiece from Walter, Teixeira, Alcantara, Milena Bukinac, and Lanie Muys.  
 
The Bucs wrap up the regular season on Saturday afternoon when the travel to Tampa to take on the Spartans at 4:00 pm
