ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.— The Barry University men’s basketball team dropped a 66-53loss to the Eckerd Tritons on the road on Saturday evening.
The Tritons came out hot, getting out to an 8-0 lead before the Bucs could score a point when Bartas Visikinis hit a six-foot jumper in the lane. The Tritons pushed the lead to 12-4 and never looked back.
The Tritons’ largest leadoff the first half came with 00:12 seconds remaining when Woody Taylor hit a pair of free throws. Their largest lead of the game came in the second half when John Harper drove the lane for a layup with 4:41 remaining.
The Buccaneers went 18-49 from the field including just 2-10 from three-point range. Willie Whitfield led the way fr the Bucs with 22 points and seven rebounds. Marvin Davis added 13 while Viskinis and Evan White combined for 10.
The Buccaneers return to action on Wednesday evening when they travel to take on the Rollins College Tars at 7:30 pm.
