MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers dropped a 65-53 Sunshine State Conference decision to the Florida Southern Lady Mocs on Saturday in the Health & Sports Center in women’s basketball action.
The Bucs (7-6, 0-4 SSC) fell behind early, hitting just 17.9 percent from the floor in the first half, and never could catch up.
The Bucs made a late run. After trailing by as many as 26 in the second half, the Bucs closed to within 10, 62-52, on a jumper by Nadia Tijani with 1:23 left in the game.
Tijani tied a career-high with 12 points, while Shanna Suttington and Yvonne Houston each had 11 for the Bucs. The Lady Mocs had five players in double-figures, led by Chelsea Johnson with 14.
The Bucs travel to Nova Southeastern on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 5:30 pm in the University Center.
