Women's Basketball Falls To Panthers

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers fell 63-55 to the Florida Tech Panthers in Sunshine State Conference women’s basketball action in the Health & Sports Center on Saturday.
 
Trailing at the half by seven, the Bucs (10-13, 3-10 SSC) cut the lead to two, 43-41, at the 10:40 mark on a jumper by Amanda Frontino. But the Panthers (20-4, 9-3 SSC) responded with a 14-6 run over the next six minutes to push to the lead to 10, their biggest of the game at the 4:38 mark.
 
The Bucs closed to within four, 59-55, at the 1:37 mark on a layup by Nadia Tijani, the Tech scored the last four points, a layup by Briauna Hagins and a pair of free throws by Ashton McClairen.
 
Tijani scored a career-high 17 points for the Bucs, while Shanna Suttington added 12. McClairen led Tech with 15 points, while Lynisha Nelson had 13, Hagins had 12 and Kristen Dixon added 10.
 
The Bucs host Nova Southeastern on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 5:30 pm. The game will mark the final home game for the Bucs’ five seniors who will be honored at the game.
