DECATUR, Ala.—The Barry Buccaneers split their games on the final day of the 2011 UAH Charger Chillout, losing 6-3 to #17 Arkansas-Monticello, but bouncing back to beat Georgia College 7-2. The Bucs went 4-2 at the tournament.

In the first game against the Cotton Blossoms (8-1), UAM jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and Sara Huddleston put the game away in the fourth inning with a two-run double.

The Bucs (4-4) scratched three runs against All-America pitcher Kayla Jackson, who had only allowed two runs so far this season. Cassy Zamora accounted for two of them, lofting a sacrifice fly to score pinch runner Grace Collins in the second inning and scoring one of her own in a single by Natalia Ojeda in the seventh inning. Sarah Broeseker doubled and scored on a ground out b y Alyssa Goldsmith in the first.

Jessica Tabor went three-for-three, including a lead-off single in the second that put Collins on base.

Brianna Smith (0-3) took the loss, giving up two runs in the first inning before giving way to Jessica Bevlin who went the rest of the way. She allowed four runs on five hits and three walks. Jackson (5-0) worked a complete game for the win. She gave up six hits and two walks and struck out eight.

In the finale, Paula Mackin (2-1) worked a complete game, giving up two runs (one earned) on eight hits and three walks and struck out three.

Broeseker walked, stole second, went to third on a throwing error by Bobcat catcher Anna Parker and scored on a single by Tabor. Since taking over the lead off role, Broeseker has scored in the first inning of every game. She added a two-run single in the fourth, plating Collins and Kayla Monroy.

The Bucs nearly ended the contest early in the fifth inning. Goldsmith walked to lead off the frame and Tabor and Amber Durkin followed with singles to load the bases. Zamora brought home Goldsmith with a ground out and Mackin and Monroy followed with RBI singles. The Bucs could not get the eighth run, however.

The Bucs travel to Winter Park, Fla., next weekend for the Rollins College Crossover, facing off against Kentucky State and Albany State at Lakefront Park.
