VALDOSTA, Ga.—The Barry University volleyball team moved to a perfect 4-0 on the season on Saturday with a pair of wins in the Fairfield Inn Azalea Classic. In the morning match, the Bucs took a 3-1 (20-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-17) win over regional opponent Augusta State. In the evening match, Barry blanked Albany State 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-13).

In the morning, Barry dropped its first set to Augusta State 25-20. Though they controlled the flow of the game, the Bucs made costly mistakes down the stretch to give the Jaguars the game.

In set two, the Bucs rebounded with a 25-18 win. Barry jumped out to a 10-5 lead and pushed it to 18-10 off a Tania Torres kill. The Bucs held multiple leads through 22-12 before Augusta took four straight to cut the score to 22-16. Barry was too strong, however, taking the 25-18 win with the help of a pair of Torres kills and a number of Jaguar errors.

The third set was much closer as Augusta State took a three-point lead in the early going and maintained it through 23-20. Barry turned the tides, however, with five-straight points to take the 25-23 win. A pair of Mariana Lisboa kills and a Jaguar error tied it at 23-23, and two Taylor Zirwas attacks gave the Bus the win in set two.

The Bucs had a strong start in set four as Torres served five-straight service points to help the Bucs to a 14-7 lead. Barry kept the pressure on, combining for seven kills down the stretch to help them to the 25-17 fourth-set win.

In the matinee, the Bucs had little trouble doing away with the Albany State Golden Rams, winning in straight sets.

In set one Torres served nine-straight service points to help the Bucs to a 9-2 lead. The Rams fought back, getting as close as 14-10 but were unable to hold on, committing six errors to help Barry to the 25-14 win.

In the second set, Barry again pushed out to a strong lead and held the Rams off for the 25-14 win.

In the third and final set, the teams were even through 4-4 before Barry took three-straight points off a pair of Mima Hajdukovic kills and one from Morgan Howard. The Bucs extended their lead to 14-7 and used kills from Torres, Zirwas, and Jade Beavers to take the win.

For the day, the Bucs blasted 99 kills. Torres led the way with 27 while Hajdukovic had 19. The team accounted for 18 total blocks. Jenna Duddleston led the defense with 27 digs while Hajdukovic paced the offense with 47 assists.
