ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.—The Barry University volleyball team (5-0) remained perfect on the season on Friday afternoon with a 3-0 win (25-8, 25-21, 25-18) over the Millersville Marauders (4-2). The Bucs hit a solid .316 for the match compared to Millersville’s -0.24 attack percentage.

The Bucs dominated the first set, storming out to a 10-3 lead with the help of kills by Morgan Howard, Mima Hajdukoivc, and Tania Torres. Barry kept the heat on as Taylor Zirwas and Torres accounted for nine service points to take the Bucs to a 19-6 lead. Zirwas had an ace in the run and Mariana Lisboa chipped in with a pair of kills. The Marauders would muster up two more points, but two Libby Walter aces and a pair of Lanie Muys kills helped Barry to the 25-8 win.

In the second set, the Marauders came out with revenge in mind as the teams were tied at 11-11 in the early going. The Bucs took four straight, off of kills by Hajdukovic and Zirwas and a pair of Marauder errors, to take a 15-11 lead. Millersville hung tight, getting as close as three points multiple times, but were unable to hold off the Buccaneers who took the 25-21 win.

Millersville again hung close throughout the first half of the final set as Barry led 11-10 early. Barry went on a 6-2 run with the help of kills by Muys, Torres and Hajdukovic to take a 17-12 lead. The Marauders got within three at 17-14, but committed too many errors and Barry took the final point of the match off a Howard kill.

Torres led the way for the Buccaneers with 17 kills. Lisboa had eight while Hajdukovic chipped in with seven. Muys and Jenna Duddleston led the defense; Muys has six combined blocks while Deddleston tallied 12 digs. Libby Walter paced the Buccaneer offense with 16 kills.

The Bucs return to action tomorrow when they face UNC-Pembroke at 12:45 pm.
