GREENVILLE, Tenn.—The Barry University men’s soccer team moved to a perfect 4-0 after defeating the Carson Newman Eagles 2-1 on Sunday to wrap up their road-trip up north.

The Bucs struck first when Guilherme Oliveira served up a pass to Kendall Sealy who collided with the Eagle’s keeper, out of position and without possession Sealy was able to score his second goal of the season and give Barry the early lead.

After several scoring opportunities in which the Bucs weren’t able to capitalize, Carson Newman tied the score at the 34 minute mark off the leg of Robert Hill, the team’s leading scorer thus far. That would be the score as the teams went into the break in a first half dominated by Barry reflected by their five corner attempts to the Eagles zero.

The second half saw a more physical style of play and four yellow cards were given to the Eagles as well as one for the Buccaneers which would eventually result in a red card for Whit Gray and the Eagles were forced to play a man down for the remaining 30 minutes of the match.

The Bucs turned up the pressure offensively and out-shot the Eagles 8-2 in the second period, but it wasn’t until the 84th minute that Mark Anderson was able to break the one-one tie off a deflection in the box that sailed to the far post just past the keeper.  The goal is the senior’s eight on the year and second game winner in the tournament.

The Buccaneers will take their undefeated 4-0 record and #10 national ranking back home when they face off against Johnson and Wales this Wednesday, Sep. 14th starting at 7:00 p.m.

Live-stat and audio broadcast will be available through the Barry University athletic website, GOBARRYBUCS.COM.
