MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The eighth-ranked Barry Buccaneers posted their first clean sheet on the season with a 2-0 win over cross-town rival Johnson & Wales on Wednesday night at Buccaneer Field.

Barry All-American Mark Anderson continued his onslaught to start the season, scoring both goals in the affair to give him 10 goals in five games, one short of his total from last year.

The Wildcats (0-6-0) who have struggled to score goals all season and came into the game having allowed 19 goals in their first five games, bunkered 10 men in the box for most of the first half. Barry (5-0-0) struggled initially, but some nifty passing by Anderson produced the scores.

In the 24th minute, Anderson drove the ball into the box and flicked a pass off to freshman Eyal Schechter who returned the favor, finding Anderson unmarked at the top of the six-yard box. Anderson beat JWU keeper Jose Barreto for the game’s first score.

Just 6:58 later, Anderson connected on a similar play with freshman Chase Hanson. Anderson flicked the ball over to Hanson, made a run off the pass and got it back in the clear for the goal.

Johnny Rodrigues posted a save on the Wildcats’ only shot for his first shutout of the season. Barreto had eight saves for JWU.

The Bucs begin Sunshine State Conference play on Saturday, Sept. 17 as they host the Nova Southeastern Sharks with kickoff slated for 7:00 pm. You can follow the action live on the Buccaneer website: GoBarryBucs.com.
