MIAMISHORES, Fla.—The Barry University men’s soccer team battled to a 2-2 draw against Florida Tech Wednesday night at Buccaneer Field.
The Bucs struck first when senior forward Randy Taylor was able to find the back of the net from 15 yards out in the eight minute mark after a Kendall Sealy centering pass. However the Panthers were able to answer with a header by Linus Rikardsonn that was just out of the reach of Johnny Rodrigues.
Florida Tech kept applying the pressure and five minutes after they knotted up the score at one, Kalle Mansson was able to connect from a Ricky Menendez corner giving the Panthers the 2-1 advantage.
Following the intermission, the Bucs were able to change the pace of the game offensively and saw several scoring opportunities in the second half.
Senior Mark Rafols was able to put a head on a cornere from Sophomore forward Joong Kim just inside the box to even the score at two in the 77th minute for his first goal of the season.
Not long after, Kim made a terrific run off the left side and his shot on goal just hit the near post, missing a goal by inches. The Bucs held an 11-3 shot advantage in the second half but were not able to capitalize.
The overtime periods saw a few opportunities from both teams, but to no avail and the Panthers walked away with a draw.
The Buccaneer’s will travel to Tampa this Saturday as they look to get back to their winning ways. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. with live-stat and audio broadcast available through the Barry University athletic website, GOBARRYBUCS.COM.
