Women's Golf Finishes Seventh At NSU Invitational

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.—The Barry University women’s golf team wrapped up play at the NSU Shark Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. The Bucs posted a 627 (318-309) to finish in seventh place overall.

A host of SSC schools placed in the top-five finishers. Defending national champion Nova Southeastern took the top spot with a 594 (300-294). Florida Southern finished second with a 608 (305-303). Rollins was two strokes off the Mocs’ pace to finish in third with a 610 (310-300). Florida Tech fired a 620 (315-305) to take fourth while Lynn University shot a 622 (327-295) to round out the top five.

Taylor Babcock paced the Bucs in the tournament. Babcock shot a 150 (76-74) to finish in seventh place overall.

Nancy Vergera (8-74) and Sophie Weilguni (81-78) each fired a 159 to tie for 31st overall.

Paola Grande and Lizzi Over rounded out the Buccaneer finishers. Grande fired a 164 (81-83) to finish in 42nd place while Over shot a 168 (80-88) to finish tied for 48th place overall.

DAY ONE RESULTS

Defending national champion and host Nova Southeastern is in first after one round with a 300. Florida Southern is in second place, five strokes off the Sharks with a 305. Rollins fired a 310 for third place. Seminole Community College fired a 311, a stroke behind the Tars, and Florida Tech rounded out the top five with a 315.

Taylor Babcock led the way for Barry. Babcock shot a 76 (39-37) in the first round to tie for tenth place.

Lizzi Over posted an 80 (40-40) to tie for 29th place while Paolo Grand (43-38) and Sophie Weilguni (43-38) each fired an 81 to tie for 34th place.

Nancy Vergara rounded the Buccaneer finishers with an 83 (41-44) to tie for 51ST place.
