Women's Golf Takes Fourth At Saint Leo Invitational

LAKE JOVITA, Fla.—The Barry University women’s golf team posted a 623 (310-315) to finish fourth overall at the 2011 Saint Leo Invitational on Tuesday afternoon.

Host Saint Leo took top spot in the 16-team tournament. The Lions fired a 609 (302-307) to claim the win. Florida Southern posted a 611 (303-308) to take second place overall. Seminole Community College beat the Bucs by three strokes, 620 (316-304), for fourth place while defending national champion Nova Southeastern was three strokes behind the Bucs in fifth with a 625 (310-315).

Taylor Babcock led the Bucs for the second-straight tournament. Babcock shot a153 (78-75) to finish eighth overall.

Nancy Vergara was two strokes off Babcock’s pace. Vergara fired a 155 (83-72) to finish tied for 13th. Vergara is one of only three players to finish a round with a par or better. Her second-round 72 tied for the second best of the tournament.

Paola Grande (79-82) and Lizzi Over (77-84) each finished with a 161 to tie for 34th overall while Sophie Weiguni posted a 162 (85-77) to tie for 40th.
