WINTER PARK, Fla.—The Barry University volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (25-17, 25-15, 21-25, 25-15) decision to the Rollins College Tars in conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Bucs took the third set but couldn’t catch the Tars in the remaining sets.

In the first set, the Bucs (11-15, 3-11 SSC) and Tars (22-8, 10-3) were even through 10-10 before the Tars took seven of the next nine points for a 17-12 lead. The Bucs managed five more points off of kills by Mima Hajdukovic, Lanie Muys, Mariana Lisboa, and Tania Torres, but could not keep up with the Tars who took the 25-17 win in set one.

The Tars jumped out to a ten-point lead, 15-5, in the second set and maintained the lead through the end of the game, 25-15.

The Tars held slim leads to open the third set before Barry, down 12-10, took four straight for a 14-12 lead. Torres had a kill and Lisboa had an ace in the run, while the Tars helped the Buccaneer cause with two errors. The Tars got within one point, 19-18, near the end of the set before the Bucs went on a 6-2 run to take the 25-21 win in set three. Morgan Howard, Lisboa, and Torres earned kills in the final points while the Tars committed three costly errors.

In the fourth set, the Tars jumped out to a massive 11-2 lead in the early going. Though Barry jumpstarted their offense in the middle portion of the game, scoring nearly as many points as the Tars down the stretch, the lead was insurmountable as the Bucs fell 25-15.

The Bucs were led on offense by Lisboa and Torres who had 11 and 10 kills respectively. Howard and Muys had eight apiece. The Bucs combined for 59 digs on defense, led by Libby Walter who had 14. Hajdukovic had assists.
