CORAL GABLES, Fla.—The Barry women basketball team closed out their pre-season slate with a 96-44 loss to the NCAA Division I seventh-ranked Miami Hurricanes in the Bank United Center on Monday night.
The Hurricanes held a modest 11-4 lead at the first media break, but rolled off 24 unanswered points to break open the game and never looked back.
Shanna Suttington had a game-high 16 points for Barry, who went 1-2 in exhibitions. Yvonne added 12 points and a team-high five rebounds.
Wooden and Wade watch list members Shenise Johnson and Riquna Williams led Miami with 13 points each. Stefanie Yderstrom had 12, Morgan Stroman had 11 and Pitt transfer Shawnice Wilson added 10 and nine rebounds off the bench.
The Bucs open the regular season in the Nova Southeastern Tip-off Tournament on Friday, Nov. 11 at 3:30 pm in the Taft Center as they face off against Columbus State. They open at home on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 7:00 pm against the Valdosta State Blazers.
