MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry University men’s basketball team defeated Johnson & Wales by a final of 102-91 in the Health & Sports Center Tuesday night.

The Buccaneers (2-3) jumped out to an early 18-7 lead out of the gate followed by a 23-10 run that would push the margin to 24 with five minutes remaining in the first half.

The Bucs shot an outstanding 51 percent from the field in the first half, including 38 percent from beyond the arc. However, the second half would prove to be closer as the Wildcats' resilient attack cut the deficit to within eight with just under five minutes of play on a short jumper by James Lopez.

After clamping down and getting some key stops down the stretch, the Buccaneers were able to seal the victory.

Sophomore Keion Palmer paced the Bucs once again with an outstanding 27-point, eight-rebound performance. Palmer was also a menace in the lane, contesting the Wildcats' shots throughout the night and matching his school record with eight blocks.

Junior Vladimir Raymonvil scored a career-high 19 points going four of five from the field and a perfect 10-10 from the line. Chad Renfro chipped in 21 points before fouling out, while Jermaine Edwards added 12 and Justin McCoy had 10.

The Wildcats (4-1) were led by Craig Wong  who finished with a game-high 29 points. David Jean Jacques added 21 while Lopez and Myles Smith each had a dozen.

The Bucs topped the century mark for the first time since Dec. 20, 2006 when they defeated Wilmington (Del.) 102-76.

Next on the slate for the Buccaneers is Pfeiffer University this Friday with tip-off scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Live-stat and video broadcast will be available through the Barry University athletic website, GOBARYBUCS.COM.
