MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry University men’s basketball team (3-6, 0-1 SSC) fell at the hands of the St. Thomas Bobcats Saturday afternoon at the Health and Sports Center 70-67.

Struggling from the field in the first half, the Bucs relied on a strong defensive effort in order to maintain a one point advantage heading into the intermission. It was the Bucs slight edge on the boards as well as a 7-8 effort in the first half that would offset their poor shooting, 35 percent, in the first half.

The second half would see the Buccaneers open up a nine point lead after a 10-2 run capped off by an Evan White three point basket. However, the Bobcats would prove relentless by answering with their own 14-2 run, giving them a one point lead following a Kevin Hincapie jumper with 7:34 remaining.

From there the Bobcats would go up by as many as seven down the stretch and although the Buccaneers were able to come within one with 10 seconds remaining they were unable to complete the comeback down the stretch.

The Buccaneers were led by senior guard Evan White who scored a team high 15 points to go along with 7 rebounds.

Kevin Hincapie led St. Thomas with a game high 25 points on 10-15 shooting from the field.

Justin McCoy chipped in 13 points, while Chad Renfro scored 11 points and finished 3-5 from beyond the arc before fouling out of the game.

Keion Palmer grabbed 10 rebounds, five offensive, with a nine point effort on the afternoon.

The Bucs will now look to host Trinity University on Dec. 16, before competing in the Lynn University Holiday Challenge Dec 18-19.

Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. Friday night, with live-stats and video broadcast available through the Barry University website, GOBARRYBUCS.COM
