Bucs Men's Tennis Stop Embry-Riddle

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University men's tennis team got a little test from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Sunday before the Buccaneers put away the Daytona Beach school, 6-3.

The No. 2 nationally-ranked Bucs dropped the No. 2 doubles match, but had a 2-1 lead entering the singles after Marco Mokrzycki and Daniel Schmidt beat Patrick Besch and Adrian Bay, 9-7 at No. 1 pairs. Fabian Groetsch and Ollie Lemaitre won the Buccaneers' second doubles match, beating Simon Felix and Peter Francis, 8-3, at No. 3.

Mokrzycki, the eighth-ranked player in the country, beat Chris Freeman, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, at No. 1 singles. Besch beat Schmidt, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 2 singles, giving the Eagles their second win. Barry's Romain Costamagna beat Bayh, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3.

Felix beat Groetsch, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 4 singles for ERAU's final win. Barry's Kevin Sielmann beat Peter Francis, 6-2, 7-6 (9-5) at No. 5 singles. Leo Vivas beat J.R. Leonik, 6-3, 6-1, at the No. 6 spot.
