MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry breezed to a 9-0 sweep of St. Thomas University Friday morning at Buccaneer Tennis Center.

The NCAA Division II No. 2-ranked Buccaneers won all matches in straight sets in beating the 15th-ranked team in NAIA.

Marco Mokrzycki and Fabian Groetsch beat No. 19 Andrew Rifkin and Arturo Romero, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles. Leo Vivas and Francisco Sigaud beat Nicolas Etienne and Esteban Serrano, 8-3, at No. 2 pairs. Kevin Sielmann and Juan Martin beat Mario Awad and Luis Aispur, 8-0, at No. 3 doubles.

Groetsch beat Rifkin, the No. 34-ranked singles player in NAIA, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 1 singles. Vivas handled Etienne, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2. Sielmann beat Romero, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3. Martin cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Serrano at No. 4. Sigaud breezed by Awad, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5. Dominic Bisceglia beat Aispur, 6-2, 6-0, in his first singles match of the year.

The Buccaneers (5-1) met Palm Beach Atlantic later Friday afternoon.
