MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Corey Witkowski turned in his best performance of the season, and the Bucs' bats combined for a season-high in runs as Barry erased an early 2-0 deficit en route to a 10-3 win.

Barry (6-8) picked up its second win in as many days after finding a sudden surge of offense into a lineup that has struggled in the early part of the season.

Witkowski (1-2) scattered seven hits in seven innings of work and struck out a season-high nine batters, earning his first win of the season. The southpaw struck out a career-high 11 hitters last season versus Lander.

With the win Witkowski moves into a tie with three other Buccaneers, including current pitching coach Alex Gonzalez, for third place on the program’s all-time wins list.

Leading the Buccaneers offense was the duo of Tim Blackmon and Michael Slabach who finished the afternoon with three hits each. Luis Arrizurieta, Adrian English, and Harold Holness chipped in with two hits each as Barry finished with 16 hits in all.

Barry continues to improve both at the plate and on the field, playing tremendous defense in the last two  games which have resulted in wins. The defensive play was highlighted by Andy Ruiz, who shifted over to shortstop and made several highlight-reel plays.

Tyler Kinley allowed a run in the eighth and Alex Decker worked a scoreless ninth to seal the victory for the Bucs.

Upper Iowa (1-3) was led by Tyler Adams who finished the afternoon with a 3-for-4 performance. Matt Treybig (0-2) was tagged with the loss surrendering six runs in four innings of work.

Tuesday’s game against C.W. Post has been canceled.

Barry begins conference play as they host Eckerd College for a three game set starting this Friday at 6:00 p.m.
