Softball Rained Out On Thursday Against Lions

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The softball doubleheader scheduled for Thursday, March 15 with the Barry Buccaneers taking on the Molloy Lions has been cancelled due to the heavy rains in Miami. There are no plans to reschedule with the Lions, out of New York, who travel back home on Friday.

The Bucs (22-5, 5-1 SSC) travel to Lakeland, Fla., this weekend for a big Sunshine State Conference showdown with the Florida Southern Moccasins (21-4, 4-2 SSC). The teams play one game on Saturday and finish off with a doubleheader on Sunday.

Florida Southern and Barry have been the top two programs in the Sunshine State Conference since the sport was adopted by the league in 1982. The two schools have combined to win all but three of the SSC championships. Since the league adopted a three-game series format for its conference schedule in 2004, Florida Southern has won the series four times and Barry has won it four times, but neither team has been able to pull off a sweep of the other. Though the Mocs hold a 39-61 edge in the overall series, since 2002 the Bucs have won 17 of 30 games.
