MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The second-ranked Barry Buccaneers survived a challenge from the 22nd-ranked Ouachita Baptist Tigers at the Buccaneer Tennis Center on Thursday, coming away with a 6-3 win thanks to three points combined from Marco Mokrzycki and Leo Vivas.

The pair combined to give the Bucs (11-2) a 2-1 lead after doubles. Barry’s Daniel Schmidt and Ollie Lemaitre knocked off Ramon Abaitua and Ernesto Laborda 8-4 at number three, while the Tigers’ duo of Helge Knuth and Marvin Muller prevailed 8-5 at number one over Francisco Sigaud and Fabian Groetsch. Mokrzycki and Vivas defeated Marko Boskovic and Kenny Brasil at number two to secure the advantage.

In singles, Vivas handled Teodor Anghel with ease at number six, 6-3, 6-0 and Mokrzycki was almost equally impressive at number one winning 6-1, 6-4 over Boskovic.

Groetsch derailed Brasil 6-2, 6-0 at number three to clinch the match for the Buccaneers, who bounced back nicely from their first home loss on Monday.

The remaining three matches all split sets and were decided by super-tiebreaker. The Tigers (7-3) grabbed two of the three. Knuth defeated Romain Costamagna 3-6, 6-4, 10-8 at number two, while Abaitua over-powered Kevin Seilmann 0-6, 6-4, 10-8 at number four.

Schmidt closed out the match with a 7-6 (2), 4-6, 10-5 win at number five over Muller.
The Bucs host another set of Tigers, from West Alabama, on Monday at the Buccaneer Tennis Center.
