FELLSMERE, Fla. -- Barry's rowing team outraced two others Saturday en route to a solid showing at the Canal 54 duals.
The Buccaneers Varsity 8+ squad of bow Rebekah Kilroy, Mandy Carper, Kelly Harrison, Courtney Greene, Kasia Walentynowicz, Renee Forcier, Helene Pierre, stroke Kristina Boncheva and coxswain Grace Horwitz beat Florida Tech and Central Oklahoma by over seven seconds in the tri-meet.
Barry won the race in 7:02.6. Florida Tech was second in 7:10.5. Central Oklahoma's crew finished in 7:18.7.
In the Varsity 4+ race, the Bucs finished second behind Central Oklahoma. Barry's Samantha McKenzie (bow), Ashante Richard, Jen Feriozzi, Haley Stark (stroke) and Savanna Luberto (cox) finished in 8:38.8. Central Oklahoma won in 8:12.2. Central Oklahoma's B crew was third in 9:34.9.
