SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Resting a couple top players, Barry didn't hold back in beating Flagler College on the road to start a three-match weekend trip Friday.

The No. 3 Buccaneers beat No. 27 Flagler, 6-0. Three matches went unfinished.

Bucs coach George Samuel elected to rest Marco Mokrzycki and Romain Costamagna in singles play.

"We pulled out Marco and Romain to rest them for tomorrow," Bucs assistant Thomas Hipp said.

Barry will play at No. 6 Rollins Saturday in Winter Park, where they will spend the next two days.

Juan Martin filled the void, picking up his fourth singles victory of the season. Martin beat Flagler's Uriel Oquendo, who retired in the second set, with the Buccaneers freshman leading 6-1, 2-1 in the No. 6 spot. It was Martin's first win since Feb. 17. He is 4-0 this year.

Fabian Groetsch and Daniel Schmidt shined in doubles play, winning 8-1 at No. 1 doubles. Mokrzycki and Leo Vivas pulled out an 8-5 No. 2 pairs win. Ollie Lemaitre and Costamagna, paired together for the first time in 25 days, had an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles. Lemaitre and Costamagna are 7-2 in doubles competition.

"Fabian and Daniel played well in doubles," Barry assistant coach Thomas Hipp said.

Groetsch, ranked No. 27 in the country, beat No. 48 Peter Coulis, 6-4, 6-2.

"Fabian had a good day in singles as well," Hipp said.

Vivas rolled to a 6-3, 6-0 win over Inigo Landaluce at the No. 3 flight. Schmidt, Lemaitre and Kevin Sielmann were all leading in their unfinished singles matches.
