MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—Barry University’s baseball team dropped the first of a three game set against Nova Southeastern University Friday night 10-2, in a matchup between the first and third place teams in the conference.

The Bucs (14-13, 7-3 SSC) fell behind early as Nova got to Brad McAllister in the early going scoring runs in the first four innings to grab a commanding 9-0 lead.

Unfortunately Barry was never able to get any threat going offensively and after falling behind the Bucs weren’t able to catch up.

Zachary Westcott held the Buccaneer lineup in check allowing just two runs in eight innings of work.

McAllister (3-1) suffered his first loss of the season as he faced the Sharks for the third time this season, only this time he allowed seven runs on just three innings of work.

Barry managed seven hits in the ball game, two of which came off the bat of Adrian English. The sophomore finished 2-for-4 on the night while driving in one of Barry’s runs and scoring the other.

Renee Estrada entered the game in the sixth inning facing a bases loaded jam with no outs and retired three consecutive batters.  Estrada pitched the final four innings and allowed just two hits and one unearned run while striking out four in his longest outing of the season.

Tomorrow afternoon the Bucs will look to bounce back as they complete the series with a doubleheader against the Sharks at Feinbloom Field. The first game is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m. with live-stat and audio broadcast available through the Barry University athletics website, GOBARRYBUCS.COM.
