Softball Bounced From Rubber Game By Tars

WINTER PARK, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers dropped the rubber game of their Sunshine State Conference series 15-4 in six innings to the Rollins Tars at Lake Island Park on Friday.

Lawna Hunter hit a grand slam in the sixth inning to run rule the Buccaneers for the just the second time this season. It was one of three homers the Tars (31-7, 12-3 SSC) hit in the game.

Amie McIntyre (10-4), who took the loss on Friday, was the beneficiary of the offensive outburst. She allowed three runs on seven hits in 3.2 innings in relief of Hope Bitzer. Alexis Yohe (13-4) gave up three runs (two earned) on two hits in 2.1 innings to take the loss for the Bucs (34-9, 13-5 SSC).

Kelly Martinez, who went three-for-three, and Grace Collins each had three hits.

The Bucs are off for the next two weeks, but return to the diamond on Friday, Apr. 20 when they host the Lynn Fighting Knights. The Bucs will celebrate Senior Day for the seven seniors on the team on Saturday, Apr. 21 in between games of the doubleheader.
