MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry University’s baseball team lost the final two home games of the 2012 season, 4-1 and 8-4 in extra innings against Palm Beach Atlantic.

On the day the program honored seven graduating seniors, the Bucs’ celebration was short lived. A completely different result than game one of the series, Barry only managed eight hits in the entire series.

The Buccaneers took an early 1-0 lead third inning, but weren’t able to mount much of an offensive threat after.

Jordan Wellander (5-5) took the mound and the right-hander scattered eight hits while only allowing three runs, two earned, in the effort.

In the nightcap, Barry sent out Brad McAllister who, like Wellander, gave the Bucs a chance by keeping them in the game even on a night in which he didn’t have his strongest game. McAllister allowed four runs in five and two-thirds innings of work, but struck out five.

No Buccaneer finished either game with multiple hits, but Michael Slabach did drive in the Buccaneers’ lone run in game one and also belted a three-run home run in the second game.

Prior to the start of game one, seven Buccaneers: T.J. Mullins, Julio Ramos, Corey Witkowski, Lyndon Coleman, James Young, Harold Holness and Jordan Wellander were all recognized.

Barry will conclude the 2012 season on May 7-8 when they travel to Melbourne, Fla. for a three game series against conference foe Florida Tech.

Live-stat and audio broadcast coverage will be available through the Barry University athletics website, GOBARRYBUCS.COM.

Archived video of the Buccaneers’ senior day ceremony will be available On Demand through game central which can also be found through the Buccaneers’ athletics website.
