MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The regular season ended in a 1-1 tie for the Barry Buccaneers against the Eckerd Tritons at Buccaneer Field on Saturday night.

The Bucs (7-6-2) got on the board almost immediately. Just 0:10 seconds into the game, Katie Lamendola took the kick off and fed a ball through the center of the Triton defense to Sarah Wolfer who connected for her third goal of the season.

The goal is tied for the third-fastest goal from  the start of a game in NCAA Division II history. Michelle Rutigliano of C.W. Post scored :10 seconds into the contest against Queens of New York on Oct. 9, 1999. The record belongs to Jennifer Prior of Saginaw Valley State against Rochester College on Sept. 24, 2003. Wolfer’s goal is a Sunshine State Conference record, coming one second faster than Katie Katzmark of Lynn against Francis Marion on Oct. 3, 1998.

The lead held up through the half, but could have been more. In in the 24th minute after a Katrina Molfetta corner kick, Emma Karp had a header that beat Triton keeper Morgan Cresent, but Elena Madrazo was there at the near post to knock it away. Sofia Jakobsson grabbed the rebound and tried to slip a shot past, but Madrazo was there again to make the team save.

In the second half after a foul, the Tritons’ Devon Morse lofted a free kick to the far post and Adrianna Garcia was there with her head to knock a shot back across off the near post for the equalizer. Neither team could crack the goal line, despite two overtime periods.

Cressent had 10 saves for Eckerd (9-6-3) and Madrazo added her two. Becca Rogers had two saves for the Bucs who held a 31-9 edge in shots.

Though the Bucs will miss out on the SSC Tournament, they still have a shot at the NCAA Tournament when bids are announced on Oct. 4.
