WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Barry University women's tennis player Emma Onila (Bucharest, Romania) was named the Sunshine State Conference women's tennis Player of the Week presented by VALIC.

Onila went 3-0 at No. 1 doubles with partner Elisabeth Abanda. She was 3-0 at No. 3 singles as the No. 5-ranked Buccaneers won three road weekend matches.

In a 9-0 victory over NAIA No. 2 Embry-Riddle, she downed Paola Montero, 6-1, 6-1, and joined Abanda for an 8-3 win over the NAIA No. 4 duo of Kristina Marova and Hui Huang. In a 6-3 SSC win at No. 17 Florida Southern, she dispatched Christie Nunnemann, 6-0, 6-3, and combined with Abanda for an 8-3 upset of the No. 12-ranked duo of Sabine Goge and Magda Riutort. Onila concluded a busy week with a 6-3, 6-0 singles victory over Mariana Cunningham in the Bucs' 4-3 win over Division I North Florida. She and Abanda posted an 8-4 doubles win over Lorena Aviles and Melanie Aguirre.

Onila is 4-0 this season in both singles and doubles.
