MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry University’s baseball team snapped a three-game skid with a 4-2 win over Saint Leo at Feinbloom Field Friday night.

Barry (10-7, 2-2 SSC) dropped the final two games of the series against Alabama-Huntsville last weekend and lost to Division I Miami Wednesday, in a hard-fought game, but the Bucs were able to rebound with a critical conference victory over the Lions.

Through the first three innings neither team scored but the scoreless tie was broken up in the top of the fourth with a pair of Lions’ runs.

Saint Leo (10-4, 0-1 SSC) took advantage of a leadoff double off the bat of Frank Rawdow to take the early lead.

The Buccaneers answered with a pair of runs in the fifth inning to even the game at two. Adrian English’s two-RBI single to deep center got Barry on the board. Sheehan Planas-Arteaga and the other runners were forced to see the ball down and English was held to a single.

Calvin Rayburn (4-1) also rebounded from a loss in his last outing with a complete-game win. The right-hander allowed just two runs in nine innings and finished the game with 5 K’s.

In the seventh inning Planas sparked the offense with a double to right-center and English followed with an RBI single through the right side to give Barry a 3-2 lead.

Tim Blackmon drove in English to extend the Buccaneer lead to 4-2 which was more than enough for Rayburn on this night.

English led the Bucs’ offense with a 2-for-4, 3 RBI game. Joe Iorio finished with a pair of hits and scored a run in the winning effort.

Brent Krauss was tagged with the loss after allowing 4 runs, 3 earned, in 6.1 innings.

Barry returns to action on Saturday with a pair of games against Saint Leo to wrap up the three-game set at Feinbloom Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. and live-stat as well as broadcast coverage will be available through the Barry University athletics website, GOBARRYBUCS.COM.
