MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers continued their roll, pasting the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish 74-47 in women’s basketball action from the Health & Sports Center on Wednesday night.

The game was a nip-and-tuck affair in the early going, featuring five lead changes in the first eight minutes. The Sailfish (7-11) led 17-16 after a bucket from Kasie Parker at the 11:58 mark. But Nyjah Porcher started a 27-4 run over the rest of the period by hitting layups on the Bucs’ next two possessions to put Barry (8-3) up 20-17 and the Sailfish never got closer.

Barry took a 10-point lead at 29-19 on a free throw by Tyler Hardy at the 6:47 mark, went up 20, 41-21 with 0:22 seconds remaining and carried a 43-21 lead into the locker room.

The opening of the second period was no more kind to the Sailfish. Barry started out on a 15-4 run that pushed the lead to a game-high 33 points, 58-25 on a layup by Kaylia Richardson with 11:29 to play.

The Bucs cleared the bench with over six minutes to play, but the Sailfish could get no closer than 26 points the rest of the way.

Hardy led the team again, scoring 15 points and adding eight rebounds and five assists, but she got plenty of help as five Bucs topped double figures. Ines Kerin, Colette Eule and Porcher each tossed in 13, while Richardson had 10. Porcher also added eight rebounds and five assists. Kristie Mason came off the bench with 11 points to lead PBA as she was the only player in double figures.

The Bucs held the Sailfish to just 25.4 percent shooting, aided by 10 blocked shots. Emily Schahczinski had a career-high six blocks.

The Bucs get back to Sunshine State Conference play on Saturday, Jan. 11 when they host the Saint Leo Lions. Tipoff is slated for 4:00 pm, following the men’s game.
