Triki Wins SSC Men's Tennis Player of Week

WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Barry freshman Ahmed Triki has been recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week presented by VALIC.

Triki led the No. 1 Buccaneers to four team wins last week with six wins of his own at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles play. Teamed with Fabian Groetsch, the nation's No. 14 doubles team defeated No. 43 Florida Tech's top doubles team, 8-4, No. 27 Valdosta State's top doubles team, 8-4, and Flagler's top doubles team, 8-4. Triki played two matches at the No. 1 singles spot, winning both. He defeated VSU's Francisco Yim Kim, 6-3, 6-3, before outlasting the NAIA No. 1 singles player, Deni Zmak of Embry-Riddle, 3-6, 6-4, 10-4.

Triki and the Bucs will play at Eckerd Friday, Feb. 21 in St. Petersburg as part of a three-day weekend against three separate opponents that culminates in a tilt with No. 2 Armstrong Atlantic at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., on Feb. 23.
