MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The ninth-ranked Barry Buccaneers (10-3) split a softball doubleheader with the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish, winning game one 3-1, but dropping the nightcap 10-0 in five innings.

GAME ONE

The Bucs fell behind 1-0 on an RBI double by Lindsey Johnson in the first inning, but rallied to score the final three runs for the win.

Megan Copeland knotted the game at 1-1 in the third. She reached on an error and scored ahead of a single by Julie Brito.

The Bucs plated two runs in the fourth. Cheyanne Head singled to lead off the inning and went to second on an error by Sailfish left fielder Chelsie Hersey. Ashley Fernandez followed one out later with a double down the line to score Head. Fernandez came home on a ground out by Kayla Ogle.

Britney Pugh (4-0) went 6.1 innings for the win. She allowed one run on five hits and three walks and struck out one. Taylor Sabol came on the seventh with a runner on and one out and retired both batters she faced for her second save. Kayti Lundin (3-1) took the loss for the Sailfish. She allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits and two walks.

GAME TWO

In the nightcap, the Sailfish (11-2) scored 10 runs on 13 hits to end the game in five innings on the run rule.

The Sailfish scored twice in the first, six in the second and two more in the fourth.

Aubree Murphy (3-0) came on in the first inning in relief of Amber Johnson, who did not throw a pitch and shut the Bucs out on four hits and two walk, striking out two. Camille Czarnecki (4-1) took the loss for the Bucs. She allowed two runs in a third of an inning in the first, but then returned to work a perfect fifth.

Brito went three-for-four in the twinbill. Hunter Mars added two hits in five trips, while Ogle had two hits as well and stole two bases.

Stephanie Garrels led PBA with five hits and Lindsey Johnson had three, including a double.

The Bucs open Sunshine State Conference play this weekend, traveling to Lakeland, Fla., to face the Florida Southern Moccasins.
