PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Barry University’s baseball team dropped the rubber-match against the Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic University Sunday afternoon, 6-3 in the final of a three-game series.

BARRY (23-16) sent Joe Iorio (3-3) to the mound and the senior battled to keep the Bucs in the game, allowing four runs in 6 innings of work. However, Barry’s offense managed just three runs on ten hits and left eight men on base.

Both teams scored one run in three consecutive innings in the early part of the game, PBA pushed a run across in the first, second and third frames while Barry answered each time with a run in the second, third and fourth innings to tie the game at 3-3.

Unfortunately, the Bucs were held in-check down the stretch by Sean Horner and Dominic Monda (4-3) who combined for 6.2 innings of relief and allowed just one run.

In the ninth, the Bucs brought the potential tying run to the plate, but the Sailfish turned a 5-4-3 double play to seal the 6-3 victory.

Adrian English and Khalil Denson led the Buccaneer attack with two hits each and Brendan Shaw, English and Greg Brodzinski collected an RBI as well.

Barry returns to Sunshine State Conference play on Friday when they travel to Melbourne, Fla. to battle the Panthers of Florida Tech University. Live-stats and broadcast coverage will be available through Barry University’s athletics website, GOBARRYBUCS.COM.
