Svensson Makes Late Surge at RBC Canadian Open

ILE BIZARD, QUEBEC -- Barry University men's golfer Adam Svensson shot 1-over 70-71 -- 141 at the RBC Canadian Open at Royal Montreal Golf Club.

It was the second straight year Svensson competed in the PGA Tour event on an amateur's exemption. A native of Surrey Vancouver, B.C., Svensson missed the cut by a stroke after a late charge.

He birdied two of his last three holes to get to 1-over in Friday's second round. He also opened his second round with a birdie.

Svensson, who won a school-record seven tournaments during the collegiate season, had four birdies in Thursday's opening round to shoot par on the 7,153-yard, par-70 course.

He finished with seven birdies in the tournament. He had 21 pars and a long drive of 310 yards. He reached the green in regulation at a 61.11 percent clip.

Jim Furyk and Tim Petrovic shared the lead after two rounds at 10-under.
