MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Casey Griffin, Marc Pumo, Raul Avilez, Greg Maya and Barry University men’s golfer Nico Cavero won the 18-hole scramble event at the ninth annual Buccaneer Golf Day Friday at Normandy Shores Golf Club.

The winners shot a 17-under 54 on the par-71 course, home to Barry University men’s golf program’s Buccaneer Invitational in the spring. Over 100 community members, program supporters, alumni, family and friends of the program and staff participated in an event to raise funds for charity and the Buccaneers men’s and women’s golf teams’ travel budget and practice facility fees.

“Buccaneer Golf Day was once again a huge success,” Barry men’s golf coach Jimmy Stobs said. “It was a fun day for everyone who participated.”

Old Republic National Title Insurance Company, Bacardi and Kind Snacks sponsored the event. The grand prize raffle raised $1,150 for the university’s Pals-4-Paws.

Former Buccaneer golfer Kasey Scot, a class of 2003 graduate, won the raffle and chose the 2014 “Back-to-Back” Men’s Golf National Championship ring donated by Herff-Jones.

Barry golf program’s new custom travel van was on display. Sponsors of the van included The Garner Foundation’s James and Jerry Moore, The Shepard Foundation’s John Bussel, Michael and Kathleen O’Neil, Edward Feenane, Nicole Feenane, Donald Saviano, Ana Saviano, Phillip Hudson and COI Access LLC’s Carlo Arboleda.

“On behalf of both the men’s and women’s program, I would like to thank all of our supporters,” Stobs said. “Their tremendous generosity has contributed to the great success we’ve had.”
