Four Men's Tennis Players to Play for Titles

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Four Barry University men’s tennis players will play for titles at the Florida Gulf Coast University Fall Invitational Sunday.

Barry senior Fabian Groetsch reached the finals with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 semifinals win in the A Draw Saturday. Buccaneers senior Kevin Sielmann advanced to the B Draw finals with a 6-0, 6-2 win in the semifinals.

In the C Draw, Barry’s Fabian Pronnet advanced to the finals with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-1) victory in the semis. Austin Cruz advanced to the E Draw championship match after winning 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, in the semifinals.

Barry’s Ahmed Triki lost in the A bracket semifinals, 6-2, 6-4. Nico Dreer dropped a 6-3, 6-4 semifinals match in the B Draw. Renato Lombardi fell 6-3, 6-4 in the C semis.

In the D Draw, Barry’s Franco Echenique lost to Saint Leo’s Bruno Sisti, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3. Ajdin Tahirovic fell in the D semis in a three-set marathon, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-1).

In doubles play, Sielmann and Lombardi were 8-4 semifinals winners in the B Draw. They will play for the title Sunday. Pronnet and Echenique won their 8-1 C Draw semifinals pairs match to advance to the finals.

Triki and Groetsch lost 8-2 in the A Draw doubles semifinals.
