Boban Rankovic enters his second year as hed coach of the Buccaneer crew and third overall with the program.

He was named acting head coach of Barry University's rowing crew in September of 2013. That same month, he took over the Buccaneers program in a permanent role after the interim label was removed.

In his first season as head coach, Rankovic guided the Buccaneers Varsity 8 to a fourth place finish at the NCAA Division II Championships. The Bucs were ranked No. 4 in the nation. Barry won the prestigious Head of the Charles Varsity 4 event in the fall. 

Prior to the 2013-14 season when Rankovic became the lead man in charge of the rowing crew, he served as the Bucs assistant coach for two years, becoming the school's first full-time assistant in the program’s history. In his second year with the Buccaneers, Rankovic's international recruiting efforts helped drive Barry to a second place finish at the NCAA Championships. Two of Rankovic's recruits, Kristina Boncheva and Monika Kaminska, earned All-American honors in 2013.

Rankovic, a former Serbian National Team and Olympic rower, served as the interim head coach at the University of Miami from 2008-09. Prior to that, he spent time as the Director of Rowing at Ronald W. Shane Watersports Center in Miami Beach.

In addition to his coaching stint at Miami, he was the head coach and assistant athletic director at Dowling College in Oakdale, N.Y., from 2001-04.

As a competitor, Rankovic placed eighth in the Men’s Coxless Four at the 2000 Olympic Summer Games in Sydney, Australia. He won four gold medals at the 2000 Nations Cup Regatta and the 2001 World U-23 Regatta. At Dowling, he won the 1998 Dad Vail Varsity Coxed Four and the 2002 Dad Vail Varsity Men’s Eight events.

Rankovic earned a bachelor’s in business administration from Dowling in 2003 and a master’s in business administration the next year.
