Barry Rowing 8 Repeats as SSC Boat of Week

WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Barry Varsity 8 has been named Sunshine State Conference Boat of the Week presented by VALIC.

The Buccaneer 8 posted a pair of victories at the Governor's Cup, which was contested at Canal 54 in Fellsmere. The No. 1-ranked Buccaneers outpaced No. 6 Central Oklahoma by nearly 13 seconds, crossing the finish line with a time of 6:45.9. They then knocked off a pair of boats from Jacksonville in a second race. The Bucs clocked a time of 6:54.0, while the first Jacksonville crew came across the line in 7:21.9 and the second boat posted a mark of 8:04.0. Combining for the win were coxswain Grace Horwitz (Chicago, Ill.), Kristina Boncheva (Sofia, Bulgaria), Anna Boada (Barcelona, Spain), Rosie Boncheva (Sofia, Bulgaria), Monika Kaminska (Walcz, Poland), Beth Desmond (Cape May, N.J.), Helene Pierre (North Lauderdale, Fla.), Emma Howard (Newton Square, Pa.), and Kelly Harrison (Fairfax, Va.).
