Ronald W. Shane Water Sports Center

Miami Beach - Aerial

Located on the east bank of Indian Creek in the heart of Miami Beach, the Ronald W. Shane Water Sports Center is home to the rowing teams from both Barry University and the University of Miami. The 4,200 square foot facility is equipped with locker rooms, offices, meeting rooms, a weight room and enough bay space to store over 75 boats. The center underwent an expansion project that added an additional 3,500 square feet of storage, meeting and workout space completed Oct. 2005. Completion of the expansion project leaves the Shane Water Sports Center one of the finest rowing facilities in the country.

Indian Creek is similarly impressive and an ideal body of water for rowing. It is a protected three-mile stretch of water that opens up onto Biscayne Bay. In addition, there are several networks of canals linking Indian Creek to Biscayne Bay, which provide a variety of options for training sessions. It is also home to a variety of marine life. These ideal conditions are the reason many universities, high schools, and even the US Men's National Team have chosen this site for their winter training trips.

From I - 95,
Take Exit 7, Miami Beach 195 (Julia Tuttle Causeway). Cross Biscayne Bay via 195. Approaching Miami Beach, take the Alton Road NORTH - HOSPITALS exit. Follow Alton Road for approximately 3 miles. This is a 30-mph residential road. Alton will curve sharply to the east. Stay in left lane and continue to follow Alton across bridges and over the over pass. This will put you on Indian Creek Drive going north. At the first light, 65th Street, you will take a left, which puts you in the boathouse parking lot.

The address of the boathouse is:
