No. 1-Ranked Men's Golf Tied for 2nd at Kinderlou

VALDOSTA, Ga. – Barry University’s No. 1-ranked men’s golf team is tied for second after two rounds of the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate hosted by Valdosta State.

The Buccaneers shot 296-288 – 584 on the first day of the 54-hole tournament at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club's 7,140-yard course. Florida Southern owns a nine-stroke lead over Barry and Columbus State at the top of the leader board. Georgia College & State is fourth, eight strokes behind the Bucs. Valdosta State is fifth after shooting back-to-back 297s for a 594 two-round total.

Florida Southern’s Case Gard leads the tournament at 4-under 67-73 – 140. Eckerd’s Jeff Evanier is second after shooting 71-70 – 141. Florida Southern’s Tim Crouch is third, two strokes behind the leader.

Barry freshman Adam Svensson fired a second-round 69, his third under-70 round in as many events this spring, to find himself in a five-way tie for fourth at 1-under 143. He shot a 74 in the opening round. Buccaneers teammate Scott Smyers is tied for 12th after shooting 2-over 72-74 – 146.

Barry’s Jared Dalga, making his first appearance of the spring, followed up his opening-round 76 with a 1-under 71. He is tied for 16th at 147. Marcus Segerstrom and Marcelo Huarte are tied for 26th at 150. Segerstrom shot 76-74, and Huarte 74-76.

Svensson, Gard, Flagler’s Spencer Schindler, Delta State’s Jack Sargent, Rollins’ Scott Lamb and North Alabama’s Ricky Stimets all broke 70 in one of the two rounds Monday.
