MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers spilt a pair of non-conference softball games with the St. Thomas Bobcats on Wednesday night at Buccaneer Field, dropping the first 2-1 but bouncing back to take the nightcap 10-0 in five innings.

Camille Czarnecki (6-3) provided all the punch in the nightcap, clubbing her first homer in the second inning and tossing four shutout innings in the circle to pick up the win. She allowed four hits and struck out one for the Bucs (24-13).

The Bucs pushed four runs across in the third. After Natalia Ojeda and Megan Copeland reached on bunt singles and pulled a double steal, Sarah Broeseker hit an infield single to score Ojeda. Julie Brito followed with an RBI double and Kristina Pazienza and Kelly Martinez drove in runs with a ground out and sacrifice fly respectively.

The Bobcats (13-7) compounded their problems by kicking it around in the fourth inning. Ashley Fernandez led off with a double when STU right fielder Cristina Horton failed to come up with a running catch down the line. After a ground out, She scored on a single up the middle by Ojeda. Kate Hehre came in to run and scored on an error by third baseman Kandyce Redondo. Megan Copleand scored on a wild pitch by Carson Catasus (2-2) and Pazienza and Martinez each added RBI singles.

Catasus surrendered 10 runs (six earned) on 11 hits and had one strike out.

In the opener, the Bucs stranded seven base runners and fell 2-1. The Bobcats scored in the second on an error and Kristen Scott knocked in the game-winner off Taylor Sabol (1-2) in the seventh inning.

Barry’s lone run came in the third inning on an RBI single by Brito, knocking in Copeland.

Sabol went two innings in relief of Britney Pugh and allowed the one run on two hits and walk. She struck out one. Cristina Sacramento (3-2) earned the win with three shutout innings. She allowed one hit, walked one and hit one and struck out one.

Martinez, Copeland and Ojeda all had three hits in the doubleheader. Copeland led the Bucs with three runs scored, while Brito, Martinez and Pazienza all knocked in a pair.

The Bucs play out of conference again on Saturday, at Palm Beach Atlantic with a doubleheader starting at 2:00 pm.
