MELBOURNE, Fla. – Barry University’s men’s soccer team scored three second-half goals Saturday and went on to defeated Florida Tech University, 4-1, on the road.
Barry (2-4-0) got on the board first with a last minute goal in the first half as Joong Kim collected his first goal of the season, beating the keeper, Mitch Thorn, to the far post in the 44th minute.
The Bucs led early in the second half, 1-0 when Jack Wilson tied the game for the Panthers (2-2-0), just five minutes into the second half following a corner kick.
However, the game didn’t remain tied for long as Patrick Drmola scored his first goal of the season, just three minutes after Wilson had tied the game, to give Barry a 2-1 lead.
Twenty minutes later, Drmola added another goal to stretch the Buccaneer lead following a cross from Esteban Ochoa inside the box.
Thomas Coombes got in on the scoring outburst late in the game after Ryan Kings’ shot was blocked but not cleared; Coombes put back the rebound and ultimately the game out of reach.
King finished the match with a career-high three assists.
The Buccaneers picked up their second win of the season, both coming on the road, and look to ride their momentum into next week when they’ll travel to St. Petersburg to face the Tritons of Eckerd College.
