KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- First round play at the Tusculum/Kiawah Island Intercollegiate was suspended due to rain Saturday.

Barry University women's golf team finished its opening round, but three groups did not complete play at Cougar Point Golf Club. Play is expected to resume at 9:30 a.m. Sunday with a shotgun start.

Barry's Nicky Ferre shot 1-under 71 on the 5,800-yard course. Nancy Vergara and Maria Paola Fiorio Each carded a 3-over 75. Daniela Murray shot 76, and Francesca Perini had an opening-round 79.

The tournament was delayed two hours about 10 holes into the tournament, but picked back up again only to have rain halt the rest of the first day.

No team scores were released due to the incompletion of the first round. The 18-team tournament is scheduled to finish Sunday.
