CLEARWATER, Fla. – Barry University’s softball team split a pair of games on Sunday at Eddie C Moor Park falling to Flagler in game one, 6-3, before defeating Colorado Christian, 2-1.

Game One

The Buccaneers (5-2) faced-off against Flagler for the third time this season after sweeping a pair of games from the Saints at home in the season opener back on Feb. 1st.

Taylor Sabol (0-2) took the hill for the Bucs in game one and tossed 4.2 innings, allowed four runs and struck out two in the loss.

Flagler (5-6) jumped out in front with two runs in the first inning and the Bucs were held in-check offensively until the top of the fifth when they answered with a three-run frame to take the one-run lead.

The Buccaneers’ lead was short-lived as the Saints answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the sixth to seal the win.

Kayla Ogle paced the Bucs offense with a 2-for-3 performance including a walk and a run scored.

Game Two

Barry rebounded with a victory over Colorado Christian in what developed into a pitchers’ duel in game two.

Camille Czarnecki and Sabol combined to scatter five hits and allowed just one run in seven innings of work.

The Saints grabbed the early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Bucs wasted little time and answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the first to even the game at one.

In the bottom of the second Cheyanne Head singled and stole a base to put herself in scoring position with just one out. Following a strikeout, Hunter Mars delivered a two-out RBI double to left-center and what would eventually become the game-winning hit.

Sabol (1-2) worked 3.2 innings in relief, striking out three in route to the victory for the Bucs.

Next the Buccaneers will play host to Kentucky State on Feb. 16th with a double-header scheduled to begin at 12:00 pm. Live-stat and video broadcast coverage will be available through the Barry University athletics website, GOBARRYBUCS.COM.
