WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – Barry University women’s golf team is tied for fifth after two rounds of the Peggy Kirk Bell tournament hosted by Rollins Monday.
The No. 2-ranked Buccaneers shot 315-316 – 631 on the par-72, 6,089-yard Tuscawilla Country Club course in the 14-team, 78-player field. No. 1 Lynn leads the tournament at 600. Host Rollins is second at 612, and Florida Tech third at 619.
Barry freshman Martina Bertuccioli shot 77-79 -- 156 in her first collegiate tournament. She is 20th entering Tuesday’s final round. Lynn’s Samantha Smolen is the leader in the clubhouse at 2-over 72-74 – 146. Rollins’ Annie Dulman and Florida Tech’s Johanna Larsson are two strokes back at 148.
Barry’s Nicky Ferre is tied for 24th after shooting 80-78 – 158. Nancy Vergara shot 79-80 – 159, and is lumped in a tie for 30th with teammate Maria Paola Fiorio, who shot 80-79 – 159. Bucs junior Daniela Murray carded a 79-82 – 161. She is 37th.
Lynn’s Louise Manalo is tied for fourth with Louisville’s Shannon Gramley, playing as an individual, at 150.
Tuesday’s final round begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
