KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Barry University sophomore forward Yunio Barrueta was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-South District Second Team Wednesday.

A 6-foot-6, 218-pound forward from Miami who transferred from NCAA Division I East Tennessee State, Barrueta averaged 14.1 points and a team-best nine rebounds per game, shot .458 from the floor, and led the Buccaneers with 30 blocks. He scored in double figures in the final 22 games of the season, and had 12 double-doubles this season.

It was the fourth postseason honor he earned. Barrueta was also a Daktronics Second-Team All-South Region selection, as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America. He was named the Sunshine State Conference Newcomer of the Year, and voted to the First-Team All-SSC.

Barrueta helped steer the Buccaneers to a 19-9 overall record and Barry's fourth NCAA Tournament appearance.
