Barry Men’s Soccer had a lot to be happy about as they celebrated Senior Night in style with an overwhelming 5-0 victory over Florida Southern.
Seniors Nico Gercke and Connor Randel were honored before kickoff for their contributions to the program and both, especially Gercke, would leave their marks on the game.
Gercke, who came into the game with team leading four goals, doubled on his season tally on a career night for the midfielder from Wahrenholz, Germany.
Gercke scored in the 23rd, 66th, 69th and 83rd minutes with the help of assists from Michael Fernandez, Connor Randel (2), and Cameron Hansen.
Esteban Ochoa got in on the scoring with his own tally in the 77th minute off an assist by Maurice Padula.
Goalkeeper Jimmy McGregor recorded his third shutout of the season and made six saves to help make for a near-perfect night for the Bucs.
Up next for the Bucs is their final SSC game of the regular season as they travel to St. Petersburg to take on Eckerd, Monday afternoon at 5:00 pm.
